Parenting Support, Through Counselling

There are many specific ways society tells us how to parent, how to feel and how to show up for our kids. I work with parents who are trying to process their own life experiences and trauma, while also trying to show up as effective parents.

My clients often come to me feeling shame and guilt because they’re not living up to society’s expectations of being a “good parent”. Through my unique parent counselling lens we work to pull apart the cultural stories parents constantly hear, like “you’re not doing enough.”

We uncover ways to make those stories fit better with your experience, so you can feel more comfortable with yourself, confident in your parenting and better connected with your children.

We’ll also look at ways that we can help you to parent from a place of feeling more centred and grounded, by getting in touch with who you are at your core.

Supporting Youth, Through Counselling

When I work with young clients, I see you as a whole person, with insights, ideas, preferences and desires for how you want your life to unfold. Some people in your life might say, “you are just a kid,” going through “normal problems.”

But often the youth I work with are experiencing real concerns and anxieties, about friendships, figuring out their place in the world, or about things going on with their families.

Even though you have a clear idea about who you are and how you want to live, life can still be a struggle. Maybe you feel like you’ve tapped out your friendships talking about what’s going on, or that your friends and family just don’t understand you.

I’m here to help you explore anything that’s on your mind and offer a space where you can be open and honest.

Supporting Individuals, Through Counselling

You are feeling burnt out and are looking to get the spark of life back into your days. You find yourself ruminating and maybe you have trouble sleeping or you get crabby with the people around you.

You’ve tried talking to your friends and family, and you find that you are just retelling the same old story.

Maybe you have lost someone who had a big impact on you, or maybe there has been some other kind of major life transition that has thrown you through a loop.

It might be hard to see where things are going well and know how to build on that. We can work together to find those things inside of you that you know to be true – your values, your insights, the wisdom in your body.

Through a variety of ways, we can unpack what it means to be a person at this point in time, and how to find meaning or return to your sense of purpose or fulfillment.

My areas of speciality are parenting, youth, trauma, grief & loss, depression & anxiety.
